The Ache for Worth: Why You Still Don’t Feel Good Enough

Wendy Buchanan

You’ve done everything you were supposed to do. You’ve worked hard, been kind, tried to be good. And yet, deep down, there’s still a quiet ache—a sense that you’re not enough.

This ache isn’t a flaw. It’s a divine signal. In Be Transformed – New Life Awaits, we learn that God created us with a need for worth that only He can fill. When we try to meet that need through performance, approval, or control, we end up exhausted and empty.

The Rock House Center podcast Understanding Low Self-Worth explores how this ache for value often drives our behavior. We chase affirmation, avoid failure, and measure ourselves by how others respond to us. But no amount of success or praise can satisfy a need that is spiritual in nature.

The law of the Spirit of life invites us to stop striving and start receiving. When we live by the Spirit, we are no longer defined by our performance or our past. We are defined by the truth: that we are fully known, fully loved, and fully accepted by God.

This truth doesn’t just comfort—it transforms. As we surrender our need to prove ourselves and trust God to meet our divine needs, we begin to experience peace. Not because we’ve finally “arrived,” but because we’ve finally let go.
